The Concepts of Gmail.com

Alex, is a good friend of mine, who sees me as a brother, good friend and most importantly, as a mentor. With the mindset of a protégé, Alex tells me and usually updates me on any project he’s doing or about to do. However, when he told me that he does not have an account with Gmail and he doesnt’ use their email services, I was shocked, stunned and taken aback, that why you Alex?

With this surprise and invisible anger in my tone on phone, the next day, the gentleman that woke me up from my bed was Alex. There he was, standing in front of my door, asking “I would like to have a Gmail.com account, can you help me out?”

I got started: Gmail is the best email service provider out there in the online world because it houses all what you will ever need to achieve and maintain success from the perspective of what you call success, I said.

From my personal experience and opinion, I’m glad to say and affirm that I have been a great beneficiary of having a Gmail account and over the years,, the advancement, update and the relationship exiting between me and Gmail has helped breathed and birthed a purpose and success in me.

To know me, why not check out Gmail.com

The Chat Room Addict, Teen Chat Rooms and the Possible Dangers

Teen chat rooms are a common form of computer addiction amongst our teenagers. There are many reasons why youngsters turn to this form of socialising, which can also be, potentially, very dangerous. Thankfully, with the massive media coverage outlining the dangers of chat rooms and meeting with strangers, many of our teenagers are now aware of the dangers involved. It is with these dangers in mind, that we as parents, must stress to our children and ensure they are aware of the possible dangers involved in meeting up with strangers.

As with other forms of computer addiction, teen chat rooms offer a degree of anonymity and the chat room addict can be who he or she wants to be. More often than not, chat room addicts start off with just a break from the routine of daily life. Studying, research, projects, assignments, etc. As time progresses and more chat room friends are added to the list, it becomes very hard to stay away from the computer. Different time zones mean staying up late or getting up early to meet with chat friends from other parts of the world.

Just one or two hours a day in the teen chat rooms is fine by any normal standards, but when the addict is spending the best part of the whole day in the chat rooms, that’s when it is time to start taking action and limiting the time spent at the computer. We, as parents, owe it to our children to take the necessary steps to reducing their time spent at the computer. From personal experience, it is not always possible to make your child understand that it is in his or her own best interest that you are doing what you are doing.

There must also be a hard and non-bending rule that personal information is not given out in teen chat rooms. It will be extremely difficult for the chat room addict, who is totally engrossed in the conversation, not to respond to an innocuous question such as “what is your last name?”, or “can I call you on the phone? What is your number?”. It is best to stick to your chat room name. Anything personal which is given away, innocently, in a chat room could result in them being identified. Again, this is knowledge gained from a personal experience. My teenager was once asked the name of his pet, he told them. It was the answer to his secret question. The account was stolen, the password changed, the address was found and his friends were sent abusive messages. Thankfully, nothing happened with the address. With regards to giving out a telephone number, you only have to go to Google, type in a telephone number and a name and address will be given, unless it is unlisted, of course.

Stay away from putting your photo as your avatar in teen chat rooms, it is best to put a photo of your pet, or better still, a picture of your favorite film star. Also, it is best not to give your exact location. For instance, the town you live in. It is much better to put the nearest large city as your location.

This article is not meant to alarm you. It is only intended to warn of the potential dangers that a chat room addict can face in teen chat rooms.

Remember, not everyone in teen chat rooms are teenagers!

Creating a Household Budget

Creating a budget can be a very difficult task. Although we as consumers know that we need to pay our bills, buy our necessities, and put some money away for savings, we don’t really know how to start.

I know from personal experience how hard creating a budget can be. In the beginning stages of my road to financial freedom, I would write all my expenses down on paper and notice that I would have very little or sometimes nothing left over to save. I tell my clients that seeing everything on paper is only the first of many reality checks while starting the journey of getting their finances in order.

I think most Advisors in the financial world will agree that using budgeting categories will help you organized things tremendously. Everyone will not have the same categories thus making every budget unique.

A category simply is nothing more than a grouping mechanism. Instead of listing each credit card bill separately on my budget, I will give all of my credit cards a category, for example I will list it once as “debt”. Some other popular budgeting categories are housing, savings, utilities, charity, food, transportation, childcare, miscellaneous and income to name a few.

There are many budgeting software programs out there. I suggest however, that in the beginning stages of creating a budget you continue to track things manually. This way you’re constantly viewing how your money is being spent and staying connected to the whole budgeting process.

Another very important task of a successful budget is keeping up with your expenses and all of your receipts. Now, I know this is difficult especially when buying what we think are small insignificant items but believe me it is very important, especially for married couples. If one spouse is spending $4.00 a day per month on a Cappuccino, that one purchase is costing your household $120.00 a month. To help solve this difficult task, keep a “receipt” box in a common area and commit to tossing all of them daily. When you sit down to work on your budget pull out all of your receipts and categorize them. I suggest you do this weekly in the beginning. The box can fill up pretty quickly, especially when two people are contributing.

Last but not least give each category total a “category to income” percentage. For example look at your life though the eyes of a Lender. You should spend no more than 31% of your net income on rent or housing and that includes your mortgage payment, property taxes, insurance and in some cases homeowner association fees. If you’re spending more than 31% keep your true values. Once you tally-up all your actual category totals and convert them into percentages your “reality” picture is now painted. Hopefully you will not exceed 100%. However, if you’re over 100% seek professional help immediately because you are in big trouble and heading for a crash!

If the above process has you feeling overwhelmed don’t beat yourself up. Just make an appointment with a Counselor or Coach in your area they’ll be happy to assist you.
