Early Retirement Planning – It Doesn’t Have to Be Difficult

Early retirement planning is nothing more than a simple plan. Once the dream of retiring to something else is in your mind write down things you want to do and things you never want to do again. 2 lists, the hope tos and the never agains.

Have you ever heard “plan your work, then work your plan”…that is what it takes.

Some never agains may be shoveling snow, commuting, keeping up with the neighbors, it will be different for everyone but write it down to sharpen your focus of why you are retiring early.

Early retirement planning may include your dream of travel, it may be painting or photography, you could be a missionary or social service worker…whatever you want to do, commit it to writing and look at it often, again this will sharpen your focus and keep you on track.

Put a time frame on your plan

Goals should be measured against a time frame. If you want to retire in 5 years, and you have certain steps to take, put a to be accomplished by date on each step.

For instance if you want to retire to Mexico, a worthy goal, in 2 years, learning to speak passable Spanish in 12 months would be a step with a time frame that you could measure. Without the self imposed deadlines things tend to slip and goals are missed. Our early retirement planning had a five year time frame to retire; we cheated and retired in four years. Should have done it sooner than we did.

On the other hand some steps you may think are really important turn out to be unimportant in comparison to actually retiring.

For instance, before we left for the Caribbean we wanted to be more accomplished sailors. We discovered you learn as you go and things that we were told were important before you leave weren’t that important after all. Live and learn, but commit it to writing..that is the key.

The importance of writing down your plans cannot be overstressed.

And for the fellas and the gals write down your lists by yourself and then compare them. You may be very surprised at something that is important to you is not so important to your spouse. Come up with a blended list, it is a lot easier to navigate when both oars are pulled in the same direction.

Early retirement planning…get started right now. Enjoy.

Airsoft Rifle Games

Airsoft Rifles for Your Rifle AirSoft Games

The responsible use of an airsoft rifles doesn’t have to be boring. In fact, there are plenty of ways for you to enjoy your purchase without getting into trouble, disturbing the neighbors, or paying for damage to someone else’s property. Some of the ideas below may not be conventional but they are effective and can give you a good excuse to bring out your airsoft guns. Just remember that the key word is always responsible.

The Competition using Airsoft Rifles

After you’ve done enough stress relieving target practice sessions with your air soft rifles, you might be ready to enter a competition. While being a great shooter isn’t a requirement for enjoying the matches, you could still have a lot of fun just by getting involved. Plus, you could meet some other enthusiasts and maybe even find some vendors.

Even if you’re not ready to join in the fun, you might want to consider at least watching the others. At least, that way you’ll be able to learn some tricks that might help you improve your own abilities and get you and your airsoft rifles ready for the next competition.

Controlling Pests with Your Airsoft Rifle Gun

While this may not sound like a responsible method of using your airsoft rifles, it can be a better option than some of the alternatives. Imagine what you’re doing to the environment or to your family when you empty an entire can of bug spray loose on that hornet’s nest. Or the pain you’re causing to animals that get into your garden when you set traps for them. Instead, you can use an gun airsoft rifle to shoot a couple of rounds to scare away those animals – you don’t necessarily even need to hit them. You can also use the weapon to destroy insect nests, although do so from a distance because it tends to make them pretty angry.

Getting Stress Free Using Soft Air Rifle

Who doesn’t have a lot of stress in their life? Almost all of us have plenty of things to worry about and deal with every day. In fact, stress is one of the leading causes of illness in the United States because it reduces our immune response and can increase our risk of heart disease. Having an effective way to eliminate that stress can be very important. Some people have found ways, such as yoga or meditation, that work. Other people use drinking, gambling, and other vices to help them forget about their stress.

However, a more effective way could simply be heading out to the backyard with your gun rifle airsoft and shooting a few rounds. Sit up some targets – aluminum cans, weighted water bottles, empty food cans, etc. – and practice your targeting. It won’t take long for you to leave all of that stress behind. There is something very relaxing and calming about holding the gun in your hand, aiming carefully, and letting the ammunition fly towards the target.

Car insurance when you live out in the exurbs

Urban sprawl never used to be an issue. Even though the latest development might be miles from where you work or the nearest shops, this was never a problem. Most families owned two vehicles. Some three or more. No-one walked. Everyone just jumped in the nearest vehicle and off they went without a second thought until the price of gas rocketed up. Now we have the credit crunch and a recession just bottoming out. Car ownership has become an expensive proposition. Too expensive for some who have been reborn as a one-car family to cut their losses. The first step in crisis management is to find out which of your vehicles is the cheapest make and model to insure. Now balance that against the likely costs of maintenance and repair over the next twelve months. And which will sell for the highest price? When you know which vehicle you are keeping, maximize the number of discounts on the policy, including bundling auto and home together with the same insurer. Except, one vehicle for a busy family may not be practical. What are the options?

Many families talk to their neighbors and work out a carpool. This is reasonably easy to organize for routine journeys. But there is one slight problem. If you are going to carry passengers, you should have insurance to pay their medical costs should they be injured in an accident. It is not safe to drive your neighbors around on the state’s minimum liability cover. Then we come to the always difficult question of sharing the costs of the gas. If the passengers always pay something towards the cost of the journey, many insurers treat this as a business arrangement and require the vehicle owner to take out a commercial policy as a taxi. Needless to say, this turns a friendly social service into an expensive excuse to argue with your neighbors over prices. Of course, you could all agree to lie about the arrangement. But the stories can change rapidly if everyone ends up in a hospital and big bills are presented.

The second option is the new rental plans which site vehicles for rent by the hour in local garages. You book what you want over the internet, travel to the garage for the pick-up and drop it off at the same garage when your time is up. The cost per hour on the standard plans are attractive and, assuming you do not want a vehicle more than an average of one hour every day, you will save money on car ownership. But you do need to look carefully at the insurance offered in the standard plans. Some have poor cover of medical expenses for you as the driver and passengers. Others do not include the loss of use charge if the vehicle is off the road being repaired. Always read the small print. Summing up, finding insurance for a single vehicle means getting multiple auto insurance quotes and finding the one that works for you. If you are going to use your car to drive neighbors around, you also need to get auto insurance quotes to cover the additional liabilities. If you use one of the new rental plans, consider paying extra for LDW which gives more comprehensive protection against loss.

Help Me Redesign My Home

“I want to redesign my home… what’s the best way to get started?” As a home designer this is one of the most common questions I hear. From clients to neighbors everyone has idea of how to decorate their home, but they just don’t know where to start.

It’s a very valid question. And I hate to say it, but there’s no straight answer. When it comes to interior design, everyone has their own options and concepts around what they want – from knocking down walls to adding a new sofa.

I know what you’re thinking, “Some designer. She can’t even tell me where to start!” Don’t worry, I’m not going to leave you high and dry. Here are a few tips to point you in the right direction. If nothing else, it will at least get you thinking.

1. Start from the sky and work your way to the ground, and think giant to tiny. This rule will save you tons of time and money. Whenever you’re remodeling or redecorating work your way from roof/ceiling all the way to the floor. Why? If you make a mess, it’s going to fall to the ground. Trust me; you don’t want all that paint and rubble falling on your new hardwood floors. When filling a room, pick the giant pieces first and then fill in the rest with the tiny stuff. Furniture and carpet should go first, then small tables, lamps, candles, etc.

2. Get comfortable with in your space. Time and time again people fascinate that they have a massive room to decorate when it’s really a shoebox. Learn, measure, and study your space and be realistic. Decorating a small room can be just as fun as a large room. Once you understand your area, you can buy or use appropriate furnishings in it to make it look bigger. There are several tricks of the trade that can help with that and stuffing oversized furniture in a small space is not one of them.

3. Know who you are. Okay, this is starting to sound like a therapy session. What I mean is, understand your lifestyle and habits. If you like to cook, entertain, and read then you’ll want to design with that in mind. Great design is all about functionality, comfort, and aesthetics. Remember, you’re going to be living in this space so make it what you want.

4. Throw it away! For Pete sake, don’t be like those people on the TV show Hoarders. I know if can be difficult to get rid of things and I’m not asking you to get rid of everything, but at least sort out what you use and what you haven’t touched in over a decade. Donating your belongings can be a very liberating experience. Besides, the minimalist design can not only make your room look cleaner, but your life in general. Trust me, guest will notice if you have clutter and they might think your life is cluttered too.

Before you start any of these suggestions, try to formalize a plan to help keep you organized. You can get a binder and brainstorm about ideas, paste magazine clippings, note room dimensions and measurements, list your life habits, and schedule a garage sale (like how I snuck that in). If nothing else, start thinking about and the next thing you know your room will be done!
