Backing Up Your iPhone

Many iPhone owners worry about losing their iPhone and access to the data and applications that are on it. While it can be tragic and expensive to lose your iPhone, there is not too much to be worried about: whenever you connect your phone to your computer, not only is music synced onto your phone, but the phone itself is backed up on your computer. This means that if you buy a replacement phone, it will be synced back to the original condition of your lost phone including your music, phone book, applications and even written notes! This brings up the importance of syncing your phone often. Even if you are not getting new music, syncing backs up the phone and makes sure that as little as possible is lost if your phone goes missing.

If your primary iTunes computer is a laptop that you also carry with you, you are at risk of losing your phone backup.

This means that you need a solid plan for backing up your laptop routinely. This may mean writing a DVD of your critical files, copying everything to an external hard drive every week or so, or even choosing an online backup service that will automatically copy updated files to an offsite location for safe keeping. Whatever you do, don’t be in a situation where losing both your laptop and phone could mean a data disaster. If you ever find both your phone and laptop in the same bag, you are in a higher risk scenario.

Backing Up Your Sd Card

Many people consider a 32GB Micro SDHC to be a great way to back up the data on their computer or elsewhere. However the important thing to remember is that just because the information is on your SD card, doesn’t mean that it is completely safe. This is particularly the case if you have actually not thought to keep the data on your computer too, and this can be a one way ticket to disaster.

Normally if you are using your SD card then you will be using your 32GB Micro SDHC to use information from your computer on your phone, MP3 player or camera or just to transport it and share it with other people – and this will normally mean that your data is relatively safe you are unlikely to find that anything happens to both your computer and your SD card.

However that said, it doesn’t hurt to have a second form of backup and particularly as you will probably often keep your 32GB Micro SDHC in the same computer a lot of the time. There are many other options of backup for you here and these include keeping your data stored online, keeping your information on another SD card somewhere, printing out some documents or saving it onto a CD, portable hard drive or other storage device.

At the same time though, in some cases you won’t have backed your information up on your computer. This could be because the 32GB Micro SDHC was used with your phone or camera rather than your computer. In other words you might download music on your MP3 player, or take lots of photos on your camera and not yet have had the opportunity to back them up on your computer. This then could mean that if you accidentally were to lose or to damage your 32GB Micro SDHC during this time, you would lose all of the data you had stored on it and would have no back up of that to use.

As a 32GB Micro SDHC is really quite small and relatively delicate with particularly vulnerable metal contacts for conducting energy, it is quite easy for them to get damaged or lost so it is important to make backups. Of course you can do this on your PC by copying the pictures or music over -and if you’re on holiday then it makes good sense to take a small laptop or an even more portable netbook so that you can back up your data as you go. Alternatively you can store your files on other devices such as a phone and these days many smart phones come with internal memory of quite a few gigabytes meaning that things like photos and music are easy to copy over. But if you want to be really safe then you can always try emailing your files to yourself so that they are on your mail-client’s hosting. You can do this either by putting your 32GB Micro SDHC in your phone and using its connectivity, by putting it in your computer, or by bluetoothing it to a device that does have internet connectivity.

Backing Up Your Laptop Effectively

For most laptop users, backing up their data is something they do rarely and for most people, this will eventually end in disaster. Think for a minute about the absurdity of this every day situation: You have one computer that holds the great majority of your personal and work data. Some of this data is automatically backed up due to services like gmail.com and Google Docs, but most exists in singular form on that laptop. The laptop contains a spinning drive that has a non trivial chance of failing, especially when moved or jostled. A laptop is also a common target of theft. With all of these risks, data carried on a laptop is almost guaranteed to eventually be lost in one way or another. If you are like most people, the reason you have not lost laptop data yet is purely luck and not due to any skill or effort. It’s a good idea to have a backup plan in place before you lose precious data and not after.

The easiest thing to do is buying an external hard drive and periodically copying over all of your files.

Most people leave this drive at home or work. More paranoid people keep it in a safe or safety deposit box at a bank. Another option is to use an online backup service. These work great because they are usually much more secure than having an extra hard drive sitting around your house. On the other hand, they can be hard to use if you generate a lot of large files like digital photos and video. If you don’t have a plan yet, take the time to do it now in a leisurely way instead of stressing the first time you lose data.

Managed Backup Service Benefits

There are many benefits when you choose to work with a managed backup provider.

Most business owners do not know how to backup all of their data themselves. They may specialize in other areas, but data protection is not their specialty.

They may think they have a backup system in place, but are not actively monitoring the backups. In their minds their data is being backed up, but really it is not. Just because someone thinks something is happening, doesn’t necessarily mean that it is happening.

When you hire a backup professional, you can be sure that your backups are being completed. This will give you the peace of mind that someone is taking care of it, rather than just hoping the backups are being completed.

Managing a data backup system for your office takes time. You don’t set it up one time and then forget about it. If you have a tape backup system, someone has to actually make sure that the backups are being completed. To figure out the cost of this, all you have to do is take the amount of time it takes to change out the tapes on a daily basis then multiply that by their hourly wage.

The people that you have changing out your tapes may not really know what they are doing. They may not properly backup the data or they may accidentally overwrite the backups. There is a lot of room for error with this system.

Another thing to worry about is that when they are taking the backup tapes offsite, they may lose the backup tapes. Or, they may leave the backup tapes in their car and then they get stolen. You may have seen news reports about banks and medical institutions that have lost millions of records because of tapes getting stolen.

Then if a disaster strikes, you are in trouble when you try to recover the data. Or what if you have to recover a version of a file from a year ago and the secretary accidentally deleted it because they over-wrote the tape.
That is why it is important to hire a company to manage the data backups for you.

They can quickly do an assessment of how much data needs to be protected. Then they can deploy a backup system for you and make sure that all of the critical information is backed up locally and backed up safely off-site. This managed backup company can also monitor the backups and make sure they are being completed. Protecting your data is a great investment. Take steps to day to ensure that your data is safe.

How to Paint a Car Picture

So why is painting a picture of a car so hard compared to say a flower? Well, the main thing here with cars is if you don’t carry out every line in perfect proportion, if you just happen to make one little mistake then it can completely ruin the whole painting. The reason behind this is our brains are very good at remembering shapes and details around it. While a pink tulip can have different shades, come in different sizes, have different leaves etc, a car model remains the same, so when faced with a difference our brain will tend to spot it right away.

The idea is when you decide to start your next car painting, try to take your time and don’t rush the early stages, i am referring here to the part where you try to get all of the proportions right before starting to shade or paint your creation. Don’t let it get you down if you are not extremely talented with shading techniques or not the even the best with colors when you draw cars. The fact of the matter is, if you don’t manage to get the proportions right at the beginning the end result is usually a disaster. So you need to understand before going any further how important it is to get the proportions right. Which leaves us with the question of How do you do it? How do I do it?

Your first step is to start out with a clean sheet of paper, most preferably a pretty big one. Then go and find a picture of a car that inspires you to draw, a good picture of a car. This picture will now be used as a reference for your car painting or drawing.

Start of by drawing some soft lines on the paper, you want to try and get the general box proportion right. By box proportion I am referring to the most basic lines of the drawing such as the roof and bottom of the car. After having accomplished that, then start by adding on to your picture the front or rear of the car. This will probably be determined by how the car is positioned on your reference picture.

When you feel like you have done this and feel as if you have really nailed those lines well, then the next step will be to move on and start adding the small details to your picture such as the door handel’s, windows and the headlights ect. The next tip here is to not start doing the wheels to early because those are usually the hardest part. When you are happy with your overall lines of your car painting/picture then do the wheels. Then you need to take a well deserved break. Yes you heard right, make a cuppa take a time out. Why you might be asking? Well, this is an important step of the creation process as when you come back in an hour or so you will probably start to notice little things that need to be corrected which you didn’t happen to notice while you were drawing the car. So now add the small details and remember don’t start to shade and paint the car until you feel very satisfied with the cars shape and details. When you fell like you are happy with your design, then I would suggest you start to shade it carefully. Now how you shade it correctly is whole other topic topic, which I will be covering on my next article.
