Plastic Surgery – Elective? Maybe – Important? Yes!

Plastic surgery is considered to be elective by insurance companies. While this is true, it’s still important to one’s health.

Plastic surgery is not covered by health insurance because it is considered to be elective. Non-elective operations are those that are necessary for the life and health of the patient. Elective procedures are those that a patient chooses to undergo in order to improve or enhance their life rather than to save it. While having surgical enhancements performed may not seem important enough to pay for to the average insurance company, it can contribute to the quality of a person’s life as well as to their longevity.

There are wide varieties of medical insurance policies and coverage options that a consumer may have. Some examples of coverages include dental care, eye exams and vision treatments, major medical plans that cover emergencies and those that merely require a co-pay for appointments. The more that’s covered, the higher the premiums will be. Some plans will provide coverage for certain aspects of cosmetic surgeries when there is a health issue at stake. Examples of this include the repair via plastic surgery of a deviated septum during a rhinoplasty, vision impairment preceding an eyelid tuck and facelifts during skin cancer operations. Insurance companies often step in to foot portions of bills to clear a person’s breathing pathways in the case of the deviated septum, return visibility to an elder with saggy eyelid skin obstruction and in the case of skin cancer, take a tuck since they’re clipping away diseased tissue anyway.

For those procedures which are completely elective, such as liposuction in order to remove belly bulge, breast implants to fill out a mommy’s sunken chest, or otoplasty to trim a set of Satellite dish sized ears, the costs come out of the patients’ wallets. Perhaps to some, these operations are unnecessary and frivolous but to others they are crucial for quality of life. Here’s why:

- Self image and depression: A person who has endured ridicule about their large ears, huge nose or flat chest will be able to relate the damage that their self image and esteem has incurred. In the best of circumstances, they have overcome and accepted their lot in life as unattractive. In other cases, the person may become socially withdrawn and depressed.

- Happy moms equal happy kids: If a mother is extremely unhappy with her flat chest and bulging belly which has resulted from childbearing, she may not be so fun to be around. She may resent what she’s given up and be sullen and cranky. A child raised by an unhappy mother may develop complexes and also relate to others in the same unpleasant way. A mother who feels good about her appearance after a plastic surgery mommy makeover will most likely be confident, joyful and more competent at raising her brood. Her husband or partner will likely be happier, too, leading to a lower divorce rate.

- Stress levels lowered: Despising one’s own appearance can cause a high level of underlying stress. A person who is uncomfortable with their looks is uncomfortable in their lives and this truly affects choices that they make. Being under continual stress can cause an array of health hazards including heart disease, diabetes and mental illness. High self image is linked with confidence and success.

While plastic surgery is considered to be elective by the insurance companies, others see it for the life enhancement that it can be.

What is in the Best Auto Insurance Plan?

For some of us, the best auto insurance is the cheapest policy possible while others of us are seeking the best coverage options. Nobody wants to overpay for their insurance coverage but your circumstances, obligations, and budget will play a large role in discovering what your insurance plan offers you.

If you are a single person with a very old car you may not want to cover anything other than your legal obligations for liability. This means that should your car be in an accident, you won’t receive any funds for damages from your insurance company. You will simply be covered for the basic limits for damages that you cause to someone else’s car.

If you have a car that you are still making payments on, you will need to cover the car’s damages through your insurance. Technically, you can’t own the car until it has been completely paid off, so you have to make sure that the insurance can cover the damages caused in an accident.

Medical coverage through an auto policy is somewhat limited. If you have kids, a significant other, or someone that spends a lot of time in the car with you, your basic limited medical coverage stemming from an accident will make sure that everyone involved (including those from other cars) receive medical attention. Don’t rely on this coverage to become medical coverage for the long term.

You can also have your pet covered. This is a good option for someone who drives with their furry companion in the car regularly, especially if you can’t handle a hefty vet bill stemming from a car accident.

When you look at all the options and look at your lifestyle, you are often immediately drawn toward the features that you need and want. Finding a place in your budget for the relevant policy addendums is important. If you need things immediate replacement of your car after an accident, want to save money on your deductible over time, or you are considering the idea that you might prefer to get a percentage of your premium back there are programs that offer such things.

It has become easier to find the best auto insurance policy because most insurance companies are driving home good deals to remain competitive. Each company if offering something new, something different, and something that will set them apart. This is a good time to take advantage of these offers and set yourself up in a policy that will cover everything you need and doesn’t tax you with coverage that is useless for you.

Hawaii Auto Insurance

According to a Honolulu Star Advertiser article, Hawaii occupies the seventh lowest position for auto insurance rates among all US states. So, getting the right Hawaii auto insurance can be an easy task, provided you know the state’s minimum liability coverage requirements, its insurance laws and regulations, and the coverage options that companies provide

Hawaii Auto Insurance: Laws and Regulations

Here is a peek into Hawaii auto insurance laws and regulations, and the coverage options that companies provide:

* Hawaii’s no-fault system: Hawaii uses the no-fault system of insurance, where the insurance company has to pay for the expenses arising from an accident, irrespective of who was at fault. This is in contrast to the tort system, where the driver who is at fault is responsible for paying the medical expenses and property damages resulting from an accident. The no-fault system helps reduce auto insurance fraud.

* Penalty for inadequate coverage: In Hawaii, different counties have separate departments for vehicle registration. However, those who do not have proper insurance coverage are penalized. While renewing vehicle registration, users have to show their inspection sticker. To obtain inspection, the proof of insurance is required; and not having this disqualifies one from having their vehicle inspected. This delays registration renewal, and not renewing before the expiry date attracts penalties.

* Liability coverage requirements: All registered vehicles in Hawaii must carry liability insurance that covers bodily injuries and property damage. While the minimum coverage for bodily injuries for a person in an accident is ,000, the coverage amount for property damage is ,000. The personal injury protection coverage for motorists helps pay for the medical or funeral expenses of drivers and passengers involved in the accident.

Besides the mandatory bodily injury liability and property damages coverage, insurance companies in Hawaii also offer:

* Comprehensive coverage that offers protection from unforeseen mishaps, such as the theft or destruction of your car, whether in fire, cyclone or earthquake. It offers refunds for car repair or part replacements up to the coverage limit.

* Medical coverage covers the medical expenses for the persons traveling in your car (other than the names mentioned in your liability policy) during the time of the accident.

* Underinsured and uninsured coverage protects you from financial losses in cases where an accident is caused by another person with no insurance coverage, or when someone hits your vehicle and flees.

Similarly, collision coverage pays for the repair and replacement costs of a car that is completely destroyed in an accident. You can also obtain rental car insurance while at Hawaii.
