Both the Tassimo and Keurig brewing machines are excellent single serve coffee machines but which is the best of the two? The answer greatly depends on personal preference after carefully examining some key features.
Visually, both machines take up a similar amount of space, but the Tassimo models have a more modern, sculpted look to them.
Keurig Brewers:
Keurig brewing machines are generally the least expensive of the two brands and they utilize “K cups” that are single serve plastic containers filled with an exact amount of coffee, tea or hot chocolate. The plastic cups are sealed with foil to maintain freshness for long periods of time. The Keurig will brew K cups in less than a minute, but the miniature model takes a bit longer to brew a cup at around two minutes.
The coffee it produces is excellent, and the strength off the brew varies greatly on the intensity of the particular roast. The Keurig machines are not limited to using only K cup coffee manufacturers, a reusable filter accessory allows you to use any grind of coffee in the units.
Tassimo Brewers:
The Tassimo machines usually cost more money but they offer something the competing brand does not: the ability to make lattes and cappucinos. Tassimo offers a wide variety of coffees and their T disc technology is similar to the sealed Keurig K cups but there is a twist. Tassimo T discs have instruction codes on the sealed labels that is actually read by the computerized machine before brewing.
These instructions on the tops of the T discs enable the machine to decipher and control more intricate beverage techniques such as brewing an espresso at the right temperature and then adding frothed milk to make a cappuccino. This feature and the extra information it involves can come as an expense towards increasing the overall brewing time.
Tassimo brewers also make excellent coffee. Their ability to make cappuccinos and lattes is certainly a plus if you are interested in these additional beverages. While K cups do offer some interesting alternatives to regular coffee such as chai, all of the contents are limited to being sealed within one single K cup.
There is great debate between which of these single serve coffee brewing manufacturers is the superior one. The very best choice for you likely boils down to whether or not you feel the need to include cappuccino, latte or espresso in addition to regular coffee brewing. Keurig brewers are dedicated to brewing coffee only and many believe thisto be a benefit in overall simplicity and reduced brewing time.

I was thinking about how coffee manufacturers are now producing individual servings of coffee in those little sealed plastic containers, and it brought to mind Carnac the Magnificent. Remember? Johnny Carson and Ed MacMahon did that schtick on the Tonight show where Johnny was Carnac and he would put the envelop to his head and guess the answer. Every time they did it, they mentioned that the envelopes were “hermetically” sealed.
Anyway, that’s what I think of when I look at the K cups or T discs. You can’t see what’s in them because they are hermetically sealed. The coffee is put into the container shortly after the roasting and grinding take place. Those coffee grounds never see the light of day, nor are they affected by the changes in atmosphere. That’s what helps them to maintain a consistently great taste.
Both K cups and T discs are similar in packaging and disbursement via the brewing process. A little protrusion pokes through the top seal from above, introducing the filtered water, and another spike creates a hole from below to allow the brewed coffee to exit into the waiting coffee mug.
Which is better? As far as the machine is concerned, the Keurig Single Serve Coffee Brewer has gotten slightly better reviews because it is made a bit more substantially than the Bosch Tassimo Single Serve machine. However, it depends where you look for users’ assessments of the final brew as to which one is actually better. Because it stands to reason that what goes into your mouth is what you will evaluate.
One thing to consider is that for the Bosch Tassimo you can find specialty brews like Latte, Cappuccino and Espresso, while the Keurig brand does not offer these. So if you want a home brewed Latte, choose T dics. If you just want a good cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate, they both offer mostly the same brands of individual servings. Carnac says, “Choose either one for a heavenly coffee drinking experience.”

Bosch Tassimo red beverage system, is an one-cup system that has caught the attention for its outstanding quality and fashionable design. But let’s take a closer look at this beverage system, and see if Bosch Tassimo is the breakthrough technology it claims to be.
What makes this beverage system so spectacular?
Firstly the cutting edge technology it uses is the T Discs. The discs contains precisely measured coffee, tea, concentrated milk or hot chocolate to give you the perfect cappuccino, latte or espresso.
Simply insert the disc into the beverage system, and press the button. A special barcode with unique information will tell the system the size of the drink, the amount of water required, optimal temperature, and how long to brew it!
All the brewing happens within the disc, using a unique inverse flow. Your beverage pours directly from within the discs to the desired size cup, ready to drink, no fuss, no mess and if you like you can immediately start the next drink, one after the other.

The Bosch Tassimo Brewbot is much more than a normal coffee maker and I’ve read many reviews based on the Brewbot Model TAS4511UC that I had to get my hand on one of these and do a review myself. I will admit I am a huge caffeine addict and I love every type of hot beverage there is that has caffeine in it. I’ve gone through many coffee makers in the past and I’ve even owned a few vacuum brewers. But, nothing is compared to the easy to use Tassimo Brewbot. Just imagine pushing one button and having this coffee machine be able to make your favorite hot beverage.
How does it work?
The way the T Discs works is that it has a special barcode on it and when you put the pod into the Tassimo Brewbot it will then read the barcode and know what kind of beverage it is supposed to make. So let’s say you grab a T Discs that has caramel flavored cappuccino and then you have a friend over that wants decaf coffee. Well, all you need to do is have two different T Discs and insert one of them, start up the brewbot and wait about a minute or so. Once the first drink is done you can put a clean cup below the brewbot and insert a new T Discs and start your next drink. So you get what I am saying here? Yes, you can make several different types of drinks for you and your guests in a matter of minutes. All you need is a few different types of flavors of T Discs and you can serve up yourself and any guests that come over without having to make a big mess.
What is the quality like?
Design quality is very good, it has a very sleek design and the trim ties it altogether very well. You can also choose to order your Brewbot in color choices of black or white. It also comes with adapters to fit under the water nozzle just In case you case you want to use different sized cups for your beverage of choice. And you can pretty much throw away the instructions because using the Brewbot is so simple that anyone can do it.
1. Turn on Brewbot
2. Insert T-Disc of your choice
3. Press button
4. Wait for drink
It’s that simple and can’t get any simpler. You basically get an advanced machine that is easy to use it makes you wonder why someone didn’t invent something like this sooner.
Does this device need to be cleaned once in awhile?
Yes, occasionally you will have to refill the Brewbot back with water and you will also have to occasionally clean it out as well. The initial setup and cleaning is pretty straightforward. You fill it up with water and insert a special cleaning disc, then pour a cups worth of water through it five times and let it basically “brew” itself clean. The cleaning discs is similar to the other T Discs and has a barcode on it and basically tells the unit to run water through it.
How fresh is the taste?
Coffee tastes really good when making it from the Brewbot and if you consider your cup too strong you also have the option to push the button on the Brewbot to add more hot water to your cup. I also found out when I ordered the cappuccino T Discs that they come in 2 separate pods. If you want to make a cappuccino with the Brewbot you will have 2 separate T Discs to use, one for the frothy cream and another one for the espresso to make your cappuccino. It takes about 2-3 minutes total for a cappuccino and it is pretty easy to make.
Conclusion of this review.
In conclusion the Bosch Tassimo Brewbot is a very quiet machine that holds about 7-8 servings before you need to refill it with water. Coffee tastes exceptionally much better because of the sealed plastic T-Discs that it uses. Sealed T-Discs means no air can get in so you get a fresh cup every time with the Brewbot. It’s a very clever and cool device that has the ability to create hot chocolate, chai tea, coffee, cappuccino, espresso, and crema coffees. So if you are into specialty hot drinks then the Brewbot is a highly recommended unit to own. If you find the Brewbot to be expensive at other places then please check out this link Tassimo Direct where you would save over $50 dollars when you order a unit and it also comes with 2 bonus packages of T-Discs and free shipping for life on future orders of T-Discs as well.

If you are considering buying a Tassimo Coffee Maker, this article should help you to make your decision. The Single Cup Coffee Systems are gaining popularity and over taking sales of conventional coffee makers.
Why? Well, I think there are a few key reasons. First – with the single cup systems you get to choose from a variety of beverages, not just coffee. These units, including the Tassimo can brew you up hot chocolate, tea, coffee and specialty coffees usually in less than a minute.
Plus the other great thing is there is no grinding or measuring of coffee or anything else for that matter. The beverage comes in premeasured T-Discs or Tassimo Discs for this machine. You simply purchase the type and brand that you want. (Starbucks Coffee is available in a T-Disc).
The ease of use of these coffee makers is another reason I think they are becoming so popular, you just pop the T-Disc in and press a button. It doesn’t get much easier than that. When your coffee is done you just throw away the disk. No messy filters or grounds to deal with.
Since 2008 the Tassimo is manufactured and sold under the Bosch name, and the machine is sleek and looks beautiful on the kitchen counter or in an office setting. Prior to 2008, it was Braun who distributed the Tassimo, though Saeco manufactured the unit.
What I like is that you can make a latte or cappuccino in this unit. It does take the use of two T-Discs, one for the coffee and one for the milk, but they are fast to brew and very delicious.
The target consumer for these units is those that are in a hurry, and don’t want to brew a whole pot of coffee (usually waisting a bunch) and want a great cup of coffee – with choices – fast.
So if you think about it, that is the average working person of todays’ world.
Some think the beverages are expensive, but with the most expensive running at less than $1.50 per cup, this is better than you can do at your local coffee shop, so you do actually save some money if you make your coffee at home and skip that morning trip to the coffee shop.
In my office, lots of people actually have these units right at their desk or in their workspace. You can’t really do this with a traditional coffee maker, no matter how small as you have filters and grounds to contend with. So the Tassimo is a nice little addition to personalizing your space in the office.
The final thing you need to know about this fascinating little machine is that unlike other types of single cup coffee machines, this one acutally reads the bar code on the T-Disc. The bar code tells the machine the temperature of water for optimal brewing, the amount of water required for the perfect cup, and the length of time to steep or brew the beverage.
It is a very ‘smart’ machine, that may just make you the best cup of coffee you ever had.
