If you’ve ever tried budgeting in a notebook, you probably know that it is a little tedious and time consuming. You’d be surprised how much easier it is to use budgeting software. It cuts out writing and you simply just need to type in the numbers. It keeps it organized without having to flip through pages, and it cuts back extensively on errors.
If you use budgeting software such as Quicken, you won’t need to write out much of anything. You might just need to change some titles as necessary. If you use Excel and make your own, you will have write out everything necessary, but usually just once and then as you go you will need to keep it up.
When you use a notebook, graph paper, or another written way, you have write out everything and organize it. One major drawback is that once you write something in a certain place, you can’t move it if you want to reorganize either at all or not without erasing or ripping out pages. You’ll probably need to start all over again.
Another great thing about budget software is that it nearly eliminates errors. Math errors are much easier to make when you are using a calculator or just your head. It’s easy to write down the wrong numbers and not realize it. You can still type the wrong number with software, but when you notice the error, it’s easy to go back and fix it and the computer will change everything accordingly. If you wrote a wrong number down a while ago, you’ll have to change all the numbers thereafter.
It’s much easier to stay organized with budget software, because it’s already designed to be. You don’t have to figure out how you are going to place things and see which works best because the software already has it under control. With quicken, they have it all spaced out and ready to be used. Even if you use a template, it’s hard to tweak it to your needs.
Finally, software like Quicken has a lot of great tools to help you see how you are doing. They offer graphs of all kinds and can help you keep track of savings and investments. It automatically keeps you updated so that you can see where you are and improve your finances as necessary.
Budget software can be the difference between sticking to a budget and giving up. It’s easy to adjust and follow. If you can stick with a certain budget criteria you created, you can easily change it. If you don’t have budgeting software and you are having trouble keeping to a budget, I suggest you get some!

Have you ever felt that your hard-earned cash is slipping through your fingers? Are you genuinely surprised by how much money you and your family spend? Do you regularly run out of money before the end of the month? Are you racking up credit card debts to fund the difference between what you earn and what you spend? Do you wish that you had more control over your personal budget or your household budget?
An envelope online budgeting program provides the answers to all these questions. Unlike conventional budgeting software, you do not have to collect receipts and spend hours at the computer entering and categorizing all of your transactions. An envelope online budgeting system does this for you automatically because it links electronically to all of your bank accounts, credit cards, store cards and other financial accounts at thousands of financial institutions throughout the USA. Each transaction that you make is automatically registered by your online budgeting account, so that you always know the current status of your finances.
An envelope online budgeting system enables you to manage your personal budget effectively because you can allocate portions of your monthly income to different areas, each of which has its own separate “envelope”. For example, you could allocate $500 per month to the groceries envelope. Each time you spend money on groceries, the total amount in this envelope will be reduced so that you always know how much more you have available to spend on groceries before the end of the month. Such a system helps you to be in control and to minimize unnecessary spending on impulse purchases.
Your household budget can also be effectively managed using an envelope online budgeting program. You can pay all of your bills online using the system, saving you valuable time and eliminating postage costs. You and your spouse can both access your household account wherever you have access to the Internet, so that you can both know how much money you have left to spend each month whether you are at home, at work or on the move with your cell phone.
It is also easy to use an envelope online budgeting system to plan for future expenditure. For example, the system enables you to easily set aside a regular amount each month so that you can save for your annual vacation. Instead of using credit cards to fund the vacation, you will be able to pay for it outright and get rid of the debt-related worry that often follows carefree vacations.
Research has shown that the average user of an envelope online budgeting system saves approximately 10% of their income each month, because they are more aware of how they are spending their money and are less likely to make unwise spending decisions if they are keeping their finances under such tight control. Just think how you could use all of that extra money – you may wish to put it towards paying off your mortgage several years early or you may even be able to retire at a younger age than you expected.
In addition, an envelope online budgeting system is generally user-friendly, very secure, well-designed and cost-effective. This method was voted one of the top 100 products of 2006 by a well known publication. You don’t have to take their word for it, however, as most online budgeting services will allow you to try their service completely free of charge and without obligation for one month. Why not give it a go and see if it helps you to improve your financial situation in just one month? You have nothing to lose and who knows how much you could gain. Good luck in your quest for success in managing your personal budget or your household budget.

When it comes to budget planning there are several important steps that you need to follow to ensure you create a budget and follow it. Believe it or not but budget planning really is the easy part. The hard part is following your budget! Fortunately, the following suggestions will help you out significantly not to mention there is budgeting planning software out there that will run all the numbers for you automatically if you aren’t so good with math or simply want to save some time! Consider the following tips and you will be able to create a budget in no time.
Create a List
The first thing you need to do is create a list. On one side you need to include all of your income. This includes money from jobs and any other sources. On the other side write down all of your expenses for the month. Things like rent or mortgage payments, groceries, gas, insurance, car payments, clothes, entertainment, tuition, and anything else that you spend each month should be written down. Even include things like your daily coffee or afternoon milkshake. Once you include all of this information you can start doing some figuring.
Need vs. Want
Now, you want to go over your list and consider what on there is a necessity and what is a desire. You must pay your mortgage to keep your house, you don’t have to buy a $3 coffee every day. Follow this example and you will see where you spend your money and how you can save it in the future. This will allow you to create a budget you can live on and eliminate the things you don’t need and still pay for the things you do.
Budgeting Software
Now, include all this information in some budgeting software so that you can figure out what percentage of your income will be spent, saved, invested, and the like. When you decide you want to save 20% of your income or some other similar amount then you can do it with the help of a little forecasting software.
Stick with it
Now, the most difficult part of all is to stick with the budget you create. If you can’t stick with it then there really is no reason to have it. A budget is a great way for you to pay all of your bills, save money, and even work on getting out of debt. It takes time and effort, but if you are willing you can follow a budget and achieve your goals.
