The Accu Chek Advantage Blood Glucose Monitor

What’s important about using a glucose meter, if you have to use one, is how easy it is to use in your daily routine. A good choice, as far as meters go, is the Accu Chek Advantage because it fits the bill in ease of use and accuracy. One thing that makes it easy to use is the sleek size, which makes it easy to carry along, and the rubber grips on the sides that make it feel more comfortable and easy to keep your grip on it.

It’s common knowledge to most that have to monitor their glucose levels that tracking your test results is crucial to keep diabetes in check and your health under control. This meter stores four-hundred and eighty test results in its memory allowing you, as well as your doctor, to keep and track your results.

What makes the saved results even more valuable is the date and time of the record is saved as well, making it even easier to manage.  The ability to download the saved records to your or your doctor’s computer is taking it to the next level because with that ability you can create graphs and charts making it easy to identify necessary adjustments to your treatment.

Knowing your test results are accurate and reliable is as important as having to test your blood itself.

This meter has a snap in code key that makes calibrating as easy as possible.

Features of The Advantage System

Handling items that are not conducive to the end user is hard enough let alone the trouble it can cause those with arthritis. This meter is sleek enough to make carrying it around almost undetectable while it has the right dimensions (3.3″H x 2.2″W x .8″D) to make it easy for anyone to operate.

Not to mention the incredible light weight of 1.8 ounces with the battery, making this monitor even easier to handle.

Little if any maintenance is required due to the intelligent design of this meter that is tough and smart. No cleaning is required to keep it functioning properly, though keeping stuff clean for your own personal sanitary reasons certainly isn’t discouraged. Changing the 3 volt lithium coin cell battery is easy to do and the battery can be found in most super markets or pharmacies.

The number one feature, in my mind at least, is that is just easy to use. The simplistic operation of simply inserting the test strip so the small yellow window is facing you is about the hardest thing you’ll have to do, after that the meter comes on by itself and you are ready to test.

Key Features worth Highlighting

Features that make using this glucose meter easy to use:

Turns on automatically when the test strip is inserted into the meter.
Calibration is easy with the snap in code key.
Large easy to read display helps you to read results.
Results are saved in the memory and can be reviewed right on the meter that automatically stores results including time and date.

Download to PC – The Real Benefits

As mentioned before you can download your test results to your or your doctor’s personal computer. The ability this gives you is almost immeasurable when it comes to taking control of your diabetes, and really your life. By being able to chart and graph your results, together you and your doctor can quickly identify trends, spikes, dips or whatever course your condition seems to be following and make intelligent decisions that will positively impact your health.

Testing Strips

The flexibility of the meter is another benefit that shouldn’t be taken for granted. Unlike many other glucose monitors that require a specific test strip this meter can take either advantage or the comfort curve strips making it even more convenient. Either testing strip will work just as good in the meter providing the same precise results.

Advantage Glucose Meter Discontinued

The advantage meter set the standard for meters, which is why it was tough to take a great meter and make it even better.  It is possible you may be able to find an advantage meter available somewhere online and if you do I suspect that it would be a great deal.

The manufacturer still provides support for it and testing strips are still available, so it is still a viable meter if you can find one. The replacement is the Aviva glucose meter, which if you can believe, has even more great features.

The Aviva System

Quick fill strips are successfully filled 97% of the time on the first try, keeping retesting a very unlikely event.
Lancets are preloaded in a convenient drum so no handling is required.
Least pain advanced lancing system.
Manufactured in the United States using domestic materials in addition to some imported materials.

Reflection Essay

This reflection essay will be based on three essays  including reflection on the relationship between Victor and Thomas, a reflection  on refuting child exploitation, and comparing  the global impact of globalization based on article “Live Free and Starve” by Chitra Divakaruni and “Plata o Plomo” by Marie Javdani. The essay can be reflected based on three points: the clarity of their message, their exhaustiveness of coverage of the issue, and the accuracy of the facts provided.

The clarity of the message presented is very important if one has to understand the meaning of an article.  The three articles have presented their information a clear manner such that even for someone who has not read the sources can clearly understand their meaning.

In the first essay on comparing the relationship between Victor and Thomas from the article and the film, the message has been presented very clearly outlining the way in which the message presented in the two sources is similar and how it contrasts. In the argumentative paper, the article presents very clear information on how children are suffering in child labor while we continue to consume those products without understanding their implication on the producers. At the end the clarity of information presented leaves the reader with a clear understanding of the situation we are in as far as child labor is concerned.

The third paper about globalization leaves presents clear information on the implication of globalization as presented in the two articles “Live Free and Starve” by Chitra Divakaruni and Plata o Plomo by Marie Javdani. The comparison and contrast of the information presented in the two articles is very clear and it leaves us with a clear understanding. However, the clarity of information all the articles could have been improved if there was in-depth analysis of the articles.

The essays are also very exhaustive in presenting all the information according to the instructions. Exhaustiveness can be assessed in the way the articles meet the criteria in their respective instructions. The first article compared and contrasted the relationship between Victor and Thomas, in the article “This is what is means to say Phoenix Arizona” by Sherman Alexie, and from the film “Smoke Signals”. The essay has given exhaustive information on where the two sources present same facts and where they present different facts such that at the end we have a good understanding of the information presented.

In the second argumentative essay, there is wide coverage of the subject on child labor. The paper presents facts in way that we can link our consumption pattern and the increase in child labor driven by increased demand for these products. In three clear points, the paper covers the relationship between increased involvement of children in paid labor, lack of education and the critical conditions that harm their health.

In comparing Chitra Divakaruni and Marie Javdani view of globalization, the third essay exhaustively gives clear information regarding the view of the two articles on globalization. There is a clear understanding of the relationship between American policies and their implementation and the impact to the rest of the world. However, an extensive review of the articles could have given a wider coverage of the content of the articles. This means increasing the points of comparing and contrasting of the two articles would have given a more extensive coverage of the articles.

The other point of reflection of the articles is the accuracy of the facts presented. Accuracy of the information is important in creating reliability and credibility of the facts. In all three essays, we find that there is a high accuracy of the points which are presented from the relevant sources. We find that there is acknowledgement of the sources of the information used in the essays. Citation of the source of information gives credibility to ensure that the writer acknowledge the source.

However in the first article we find that there is a quotation “Do we forgive our fathers for leaving us forever when we are little? If we forgive our fathers, what is left?”, which has not been cited.  Inclusion of citation for this quote could be one of the way in which the accuracy of the information presented the paper can be improved. In the second argumentative paper, we find that there has been extensive use of quotes which have been well acknowledged. Therefore we are sure of the source of the information presented. In the third essay, there is extensive reference of information from other sources.

Consequently there is acknowledgement of the information as has been used in the paper. There are many ways in which the accuracy of the information presented can be improved. The most important we would however be increased use of quotes followed by the proper citation. This would increase the credibility of the source of information.

This paper has reflected on three essays in view of three important points. It has looked in the clarity of the information presented, the extensiveness of coverage of the information presented according to the instruction given, and the accuracy of the facts provided in the essay. All the three essays shows a high level of accuracy of information presented but increased citation could improve this accuracy. There is good clarity of the information presented in the papers and there is also an extensive coverage of the all the information.

A Complete Inventory Management System Built With Excel

An Inventory Management System is not only about keeping records of the stocks movement in and out of a store or warehouse in an Excel spreadsheet. A simple inventory management system should be able to identify how much goods are left in the store, which products require re-order and where, when and which goods have moved in and out of the warehouse. Thus, generating accurate reports is important. But to be able to do this, the data must first be organised systematically.

Using the details, we could set up a pivot table to summarise the stocks that move in and out of the store. It will allow us to organise the report so that we could identify the stock level by product groups, product name and the locations they have moved to and from. The records could also be grouped such that we can track the stock movements by month. In our report below (refer to row above grand total), we can quickly establish that there is a net increase of 19 units of adhesives in the month of Oct, a net decrease of 3 units in the month of November, another 4 units drop in Dec, which all resulted in 12 units of adhesive left in the store.

Using the same report, we could drill down to see the movements of individual products
in the Adhesive group by month.

Alternatively, we could also present the quantity of stocks remaining in the store by changing the setting of the report. In our example below, we are able to know that the store is left with 4 units of “3M Command ADH Large Hook” in Nov and 1 unit in Dec. If we sort the report in descending order, we could immediately list down the products we have to top up quickly to prevent an out-of-stock situation.

And if this report is still not too relevant, we could even show the stock movements (the ins and the outs) for each month and then the stock balance for the month to better explain the stock movements for the month.

To make it easier to capture the details and improve on the accuracy of the data records, we also shared on we could set up a dropdown list that is dependent on the selection made by the user using another drop list.

The complete system helps to improve the data entered into the inventory management system and then prepare reports that help the store manager to make better quality decisions with regards to stock replenishment and stock movement in the store.
